intern in the field of spatial data infrastructure (f/m)

• Ref: 24-10
• Mandatory internship agreement required
• Duration: 3 months maximum
• Full-time/40 hours per week
• Foreseen start date: as soon as possible
• Location: Belval (Luxembourg)

LISER invites qualified and motivated applicants for an internship position in the Urban Development and Mobility Department (UDM), within the framework of the research project « Sustainable Residential Densification (SusDens) », under the supervision of Dr. Hichem OMRANI, Dr. Eun-Kyeong KIM and Dr. Olivier KLEIN.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

• Develop and improve your methodological and programming competences in the fields of spatial data infrastructure, user interface design and web development ;
• Develop rigorous scientific research attitude and methods for solving specific problems ;
• To be part of a stimulating, dynamic and international research environment.

Your Role

The selected candidate will actively participate in the following tasks :

• Designing and implementing a geodatabase ;
• Implementing meta data and create related documentation;
• Contributing to other activities related to the project.

Your Profile

• You are enrolled as a Master student in Computer/Data Sciences, Engineering or a related discipline ;
• Knowledge and/or experience in spatial data infrastructure systems such as geodatabase (i.e., GeoServer) and geospatial data repository (i.e., GeoNetwork) ;
• Front-End developer skills (User Interface Design, Web Development Languages, e.g., JavaScript, CSS, HTML) ;
• Knowledge of documentation and metadata management of geodata ;
• Basic knowledge in Shell scripting and version control system (i.e., GitHub) would be a plus ;
• Fluency (oral and written) in English, any other language would be considered as an asset ;
• Ability to take own initiatives, as well as a strong ability for teamwork.
