Research Associate (Post-doc, f/m) for the Labour Market department

  • Ref: 24-12
  • Fixed-term working contract for 7 months at LISER within the framework of the « Skills for Labour Markets in the Green and Digital Transition (SkiLMeeT) » project funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe Research and Innovation programme under grant agreement No 101132581
  • Full time, 40 hours/week
  • Expected start date: As soon as possible

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a 7-month full-time fixed-term contract as a Research Associate within the Labour Market department. This position is part of the SkiLMeeT project and will be under the direct supervision of Prof. Christina Gathmann, who is coordinating the project at LISER.

Project description

SkiLMeeT is a research project carried out by eight research institutions, exploring how the digital and green transformation of European economies are changing the demand for skills. The team analyses the scope of skills shortages and mismatches, identify their drivers and propose innovative ways to reduce skills gaps.

Your role

Within this position, you will take the initiative in the following activities within the SkiLMeeT project:

  • Research on the impact of new technologies and green transition on labor markets ;
  • Conduct data analysis on big data sets by using machine learning tools ;
  • Produce and present reports to external partners and stakeholders ;
  • (Co-)publish results in top-ranked academic journals.
Your profile
  • PhD. degree in economics ;
  • Sound knowledge and expertise in econometrics, programming and data science ;
  • Strong interest in labor economics and the impact of new technologies on jobs ;
  • Excellent writing skills, for both scientific and more policy-oriented articles are required ;
  • Excellent organization and communication skills ;
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiatives ;
  • Fluency in English and German, any other language is considered as an asset.
